I think we sent the Abrams cuz we could, or possibly to observe how they operate in a peer-to-peer conflict where the mud can be 12' deep, not cuz we worried about the ridiculous logistics train for a whopping 31 "game changers".

When the war started, the best outcome for the Russians was that they would retake the majority Russian regions in the East, and leave only enough of Ukraine to form an - ultimately failed - rump state. One too degenerate to be a military threat to Russia, or to be a reliable ally/co-conspirator with the West.
Angela Merkel openly admitted that the Minsk agreements with Russia were only to buy time to arm Ukraine. So no, Russia isn't getting caught like that again.
Project Ukraine, when it inevitably finally implodes... will be Studied for Decades to come. In particular, the manner in which it was 'brought to its knees' via multiple, simultaneous Axes of Attack (Symmetric & Asymmetric) will be opined upon exhaustively. Such is the nature of this Conflict, & the Historic Manner in which events are unfolding (with speed). Many Thanks Good Sir for Sharing with Us, your Dear Readers, all the relevant 'play by play' as it transpires!
Russia has been remarkably disciplined, patient and determined while engaging in this conflict. Note to the authoritarian trash in Kiev and their psychotic masters in DC, that is how you prevail in a military conflict not by spinning nonsense narratives which aren't going to deceive any reasonably astute adult who pays attention. Also, don't install a halfwit entertainer as the "leader".
Exactly; for Russia an existential threat meant focused minds towards effective actions, in the combined west the asset stripping class thought that the usual "lie, cheat, steal" mindset would suffice.
Russian focus of effort has been very disciplined. No matter how much the West spins it, Russia could have leveled several cities and other infrastructure related targets. They haven't. Russia has built and continues to build an international order outside the Ukrainian theater of operations that off balances Western powers, and on the whole Russia has not taken the bait to act impulsively.
Just a bunch of pseudointellectuals looking for the next chunk of change. When they get owned, they fade away for a bit and then return with some new line of bullshit.
In D.C., the failures never actually lose. They just take a break at a thinktank for a couple of years until it's time to be appointed to a new position at the state department, DHS, or some other agency where they can fuck things up according to the directives they've been given.
In the Mahabharata going to war is like a gambling game where each party puts up more and more treasure for fear of losing the whole pot. NATO/ the West/ "Biden/ Blinken," haven't figure out when to hold them, and when to fold them, and when to run away and hide.
Ha, yes, salesmen; the image of a wild west huckster selling his elixer comes to mind. They definitely skipped Dale Carnegie's work, "How to win friends and influence people", taking as their preferred work, "The Godfather", "I'll make an offer he can't refuse".
Maybe in Russia and China. In the West the history will be flooded with propaganda about how the West saved part of Ukraine from the evil Russians.... no matter how little is left
I think the D.C. people miscalculated when they installed Biden. They didn't realize what a catastrophic fuckup he was, but more importantly they didn't pay enough attention to the incompetence of the team that got appointed to run things for him.
They probably could have kept the Ukraine funding gravy train rolling quite easily if they had installed a sockpuppet with a team that wasn't full of progressives who were happy to open the border and ramp up inflation in their quest to transform America.
So their Ukraine money-printing venture is in danger because their marionette let his team proudly and loudly execute an extremely unpopular domestic agenda.
The U.S. military might learn the lessons from this war. The U.S. intel agencies and political class will not learn the correct lessons. The U.S. state department is simply incapable of learning anything because their prime directive is to meddle no matter how counterproductive it is.
You mean the same US military that uses leading trannies and exiled all of their greatest thinkers? The only thing they 'learned' after the Obama and Biden leadership purges is who signs their paychecks.
Multiple concentric attacks have been considered a highly effective strategy for centuries. But the ISR and the mobility to conduct them are always the binding constraints.
If only that could be the goal. But we’ve reached the stage where the end is inevitable, the only question is how many more people have to die before “The West” accepts this.
Syrskyi: Avdiivka has fallen. Russian troops are advancing from the east and south. They have taken Lastochkino. Now they are attacking Orlovka and Rabotino.
Zelensky: If the Americans send another $60 billion, everything will be alright. We will use it to retake Crimea and kill Putler.
Syrskyi: Mein Fuhrer... The Americans...
Umerov: The Americans are not laundering more cash. We are running out of men.
I'd like the reports to be even longer, the longer the report, the more things one can learn.
I usually read latest substacks while having my morning coffee and breakfast, if there are new substacks or some are left unread in the morning, i usually do the same thing with my late night snack before bedtime :)
This way, no time is wasted while eating, but you can read interesting things at the same time.
I can read fast and for hours so the longer the better. Not wasting my time with watching overpaid twats chasing and kicking balls, and no TV, or movies also helps free the mind and gives time to do what matters.
Yeah, i had some kind of awakening in the late 90's / early 2000's and suddenly somehow realized that most of the things on TV was BS and sports/beer/reality tv/etc was only the modern version of 'Bread and Circuses' hence the nickname.
My TV antenna cable has been disconnected from behind the TV atleast 20 years, it serves very well as large computer monitor :)
Exactly, my friends think I am "strange" when I know absolutely nothing about the latest TV shows or NetFlix junk. I think they are pathetic because they know nothing about what the government does around the world in their name, and I do NOT watch any corporate news propaganda
Wake-up btw 3-4 AM everyday, which gives me plenty of time for all my geopolitical news and plenty of time to leisurely drink my coffee while reading Simplicius. Of course it helps when your over 60 and 'sleep' isn't what it used to be.
Giving feedback to people who want their work products consumed often works well, but sometimes not so well. Many of the comments here were constructive. I consume a fair amount of independent media daily, and would say that by comparison, this one has a tendency to run on. That's all.
It's like reading a report from an insane asylum...
Clown World isn’t just evil, it is quite literally deranged. This is the end result of eight decades of relentless lying to everyone, including themselves. Success always plants the seeds of failure, but even a two-bit drug dealer knows better than to smoke his own supply. - Vox Day
…..and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness. –
Yep. And if the Ukraine funding was as important to Democrats as they claimed, they wouldn't have tried to tie it to their "Let's legalize illegal immigration" bill.
Obviously, legalizing illegal immigration was more critical to them.
Virtually all of them fake. Several Russian military-linked sources already confirmed. In fact the one today appeared to be a Ukrainian Su-27--according to one report--which was shot down via friendly fire and then was re-fashioned as a "Russian Su-34".
Somebody should tell to sub-stack “A Sceptic” — who is pro-Russian but endlessly talks about these planes (which are not easily “renewable”, including for Russia should possibly try to get more from China which has about 30 of their own equivalents…
I’ve followed Skeptic from the first. He’s great, but he is not an editor or analyst- he is a curator of others statements, posts, etc. it’s not his job to check the accuracy of each piece he reposts. Just appreciate all he does and use your own judgement.
On its surface, it's pretty extraordinary that Russia chooses to continue overlooking such obvious participation in this conflict by "official" NATO personnel, not deeming them co-combatants. Particularly so given the revelations in the NYT the other day about the CIA activities that have been going on in Ukraine for at least 10 years. I'm sure that it suits Russia not to lock horns with NATO at this particular time, but it can keep that one in its pocket for when the justification appears needed.
They're not really overlooking it. They've literally killed thousands of NATO mercs at this point. They seem to also have killed a fair number of actual official NATO officers in various missile strikes. Killed (and allegedly captured) some of them in the Mariupol siege too. Very likely killed a few in those SOF incursions into Russia last summer as well. Perhaps Russia doesn't trumpet what they are doing, but NATO knows full well their dudes are getting whacked.
They're removing motivated and or skilled NATO personnel, so it's a plus for the Russians. It's not just the equipment lost but months and years of training flushed down the toilet by Iskander/Khninzal strike. Besides those responsible in the command chain can be held to account in the future.
It seems that Russia is content to perform the action and does not have a need to shout it from the rooftops. As you said: the NATO handlers know, and when it happens they pretty broadcast it…so no need to for Russia to stress the point.
In any case.... this is a lot different then sending a corps (who even has that many prepared? Poland maybe?) or even a division of troops to start filling the holes in the front line. This is Nato's problem. Mercs, special forces, and a handful of Nato officers aren't enough... and Russia knows this as they start to see more Ukrainian women in uniform on the front line. I very much doubt Ukraine is hiding its weakness. You don't fire your military leader because you are strong. The artillery surge to that area is a desperate response to stop the bleeding. They have to make a stand someplace or Russia just keeps coming. This is what may make a Sumy operation interesting... along with probing the rest of the front lines
That makes sense: concentrate the artillery in one spot to make it at least effective and send a message. I wrote about NATO troop masses in a later post so I wont retread, but we are in agreement. And let’s face it: Reality is not a game of propaganda.
Yes (with reference to hiding weakness), it's not a clever plan or 5d chess which is often attributed to these malignant parasites, it's a chain of stupidity fed by greed and hubris. Despite economic circumstances the western countries can't meet recruitment targets. It's been made very clear that if NATO comes directly the SMO becomes war, and for Russia the gloves come off.
Yeah, but they only killed a Russian pilot and crew; I like the direction of your thinking but I can’t agree with it; if it was intentional the target was the Ukrainian prisoners, not the Russian crew. IMHO.
One possibility is that they were covering up “embarrassing “ personnel. But another idea is that the Ukraine politicians are purposefully destroying UkRains far right leaders and most capable military units to ensure there is never a coup or a competing center of power. Suppose Zelensky loses the entire East Ukraine, but stays in power to manage $1trillion in rebuilding. It’s the power and profits they want, and that means destroying the popular or capable Ukrainian officers or Right Sector brigades that could oppose them….
What if many of the prisoners were NATO. That gives Ukraine and the CIA reason to shoot down the plane. It would look really bad if Russia paraded American CIA/military in front of the world.
They're still trying to say that they're not in a direct war with Russia. They know they will lose the public if they do admit it, they're not ready for that yet. Meanwhile they sheep dip their military and send them as mercs.
It's smarter for Russia to not make an issue of it. If they declare that NATO personnel in Ukraine are co-combatants, then the rulers of NATO countries will gleefully slide down the path towards invoking article 5.
If the Russians officially pretend they don't know much about where the NATO personnel are or what they're doing, then they can claim plausible deniability when NATO personnel manning a "Ukrainian" weapon system or supply depot are killed in a missile or artillery strike.
Just like how U.S. air strikes in Syria routinely killed Russian soldiers and Wagner Group personnel, and the U.S. pretended they had no idea there were Russians there.
It doesn't help Russia to openly declare war on NATO.
And to be fair, Russia does the same thing elsewhere. Russian "mercs" and "volunteers" have been operating for years in the Middle East and Africa, showing up in Libya, Syria, Sudan, and much of West Africa.
As usual, excellent content, detail and assessment. Maidan-3 definitely on the horizon. Railroad from mainland Russia to Crimea will make the bridge unnecessary. If Western troops enter the fight, the home countries will get bloody noses and they don’t want that.
The home countries are in tumult with farmers walking off the job and protesting - it can get worse. Delusional elites believing that consequences are for the little people are likely to find themselves in the midst of a revolutionary moment.
In the U.S., the mood among regular people is that almost everyone, even the upper-middle-class, is experiencing light to severe economic pain due to inflation. Among a host of other issues, we're simply not that receptive right now to the elites message that we need to save Ukraine, because we've been hearing about all these "critically necessary" wars since 2001 and we're just tired of being told we need to divert so many resources to fixing other countries but we can't seem to find the money or competence from our government to actually fix any problems at home.
We all know the government spends almost inconceivable amounts of money every year, but no one seems to be getting any services other than the very rich or the very poor.
DC is rife with Roman/Greek architectural references but they are clearly blind to how each empire came to end; via the tool of debt slavery. The parasite class shifted it's enforcement wing from the British empire to an American "empire" (fashioning new terms and names for the same behaviour) and in due course it's failing in exactly the same manner. The debasement of social capital comes before dissolution, and here we are.
I could see Russia welcoming that move. Just more targets, and more consequences. I often wonder if at some point they say to certain nations: Hey, those missiles you made specifically for Ukraine were used to blow up a school in Russia and we have the proof. Keep it up and we will level that factory. You have been warned.
The big danger facing the world right now isn't Putin invading other European countries. It's angry U.S. and European elites, but mostly U.S. elites, who are enraged that their Ukrainian proxies aren't winning this war they've been provoking for so long.
I worry that the idiots controlling U.S. foreign policy will engage our intelligence agencies into manufacturing a reason to invoke Article 5.
You really think IF the CIA manufacturers something in 1 of the chihuahua States, there will be "Article 5" in case you are unaware, Article 5 does not mean the US must enter the conflict. In any case, after watching the US walk away numerous times you really think they will rush in to save some tiny Eastern European country? I just do not see it
Article 5 does not require other NATO members to send military or enter a war - it requires them to decide on an appropriate reaction. But even if NATO allies all decided to go to war for whatever country Russia "attacked", NATO might quickly find it had bitten off more than it (we) can chew. The danger being that some of the NATO allies are Nuclear armed, and none of the Nuclear armed states have sensible or wise governments leading them :-(
Russians are the world’s foremost experts on modern war. Americans are only used to being the playground bully. It remains to be seen if we can still make a decent showing against adults aka “peer competitors”. I’m quite skeptical given the multiple defects plainly visible (low recruiting, lowered standards for recruits, weapons systems built to fight a war on a clear sunny day on a nice paved parking lot, limited military production ability.) God save us, because nobody else will.
I believe that we (US) would embarrass ourselves. Maybe not so much because of the individual soldiers BUT as far as officers and strategy and planning we would be crushed by the Russian General Staff, I mean NATO has planned and executed Ukraine's strategy
VERY practical - jet fuel-powered tanks in the first line of contact. Nobody thought about how to supply the most explosive propellant to the front lines without being taken out by enemy fire.
It's like Teslas in cold weather.
NASA spent a million dollars to get an ink pen to write in zero gravity. Russians use a pencil.

The Abrams is fast. The Russian T-80 also burns jet fuel and is fast .
Both require more maintenance because the fuel burns so hot.
The US army declared the Abrams was obsolete about a year ago.
The drain pipe and the mining beneath the Bandera strong position are going to be taught in
all the service academies. The drain pipe operation probably shortened the siege by a couple of months and saved many Russian lives.
About 10 years ago the politicians and weapons merchants wanted to scrap the A-10. There is nothing like it in our inventory for close air support.
Friendly fire incidents are fairly common. Look up the US casualties for the Grenada invasion. About half were from accidents or friendly fire.

Still comes down to motivation. The western foundation is a hundred years of shoveling Bullshit and purchasing hearts and minds.
The Russian loyalty is earned after over a thousand years of turning away murderous hordes.
One tiny irrefutable fact. Putin asked to join NATO.
Rather than focusing on how to get US out of fighting WW3 in one piece, I suggest a careful examination of all the lies they told to get in.

All the West wants is missile siloes, spy stations and biolabs. West Ukraine will be functional enough for that…
Angela Merkel openly admitted that the Minsk agreements with Russia were only to buy time to arm Ukraine. So no, Russia isn't getting caught like that again.
Never! There are still a possible 10-20 million Ukrainian left to sacrifice. Can't quit too early.

Thank You Kindly to everyone!
A nation of salesmen selling "Russia is losing." Harvard is still selling that.
Russians not buying.
They think they were the decisive force in Europe in WW2. No, they will not learn any true lessons.
I hope the killing is over soon.
If only that could be the goal. But we’ve reached the stage where the end is inevitable, the only question is how many more people have to die before “The West” accepts this.
DOWNFALL: ZELENSKY in a Kiev Bunker
Syrskyi: Avdiivka has fallen. Russian troops are advancing from the east and south. They have taken Lastochkino. Now they are attacking Orlovka and Rabotino.
Zelensky: If the Americans send another $60 billion, everything will be alright. We will use it to retake Crimea and kill Putler.
Syrskyi: Mein Fuhrer... The Americans...
Umerov: The Americans are not laundering more cash. We are running out of men.
I read today that Johnson agrees that Ukraine will get its money, the only question now is what he will get in return.
A general comment. You should learn to pare down your content for people who don't have unlimited hours each day to devote to this. Like me, for one.
read a bit each day, theres usually 3 or 4 days between posts
Pare it down? You must have an extremely limited attention span.
Some organizational editing would go a long way towards easier reading.
Where can I find your substack that is more informative and easier to read?
Dumb it down? Just like "education" in the west, keeping it simple for the sub par IQs in the room?
This report doesn't need "unlimited hours", it's a 20 - 30 minute read. Turn your TV off and you will find many free hours and brain cells regenerate.
Perhaps Simplicius should consider a 4-5 bullet point edition using 8th year level grammar for the attention deprived readers out there.
Hehe.
Perhaps he could just release a 3 minute rap song every few days instead.
With cartoon illustrations.
Agreed.
It can be a lonely existence when one "knows" and the majority doesn't.
Watch mainstream news if you want soundbites. Some opinions are best unsaid.
I have an automatic reader as an extension so when I'm busy the computer reads the article to me. I also have poor eyesight so it helps with that too.
Well, you can do what I do...
Wake-up btw 3-4 AM everyday, which gives me plenty of time for all my geopolitical news and plenty of time to leisurely drink my coffee while reading Simplicius. Of course it helps when your over 60 and 'sleep' isn't what it used to be.
Ha, 'sleep', what is that?
So wait, you have limited time (and whatever else) so the author is to tailor his material to suit your shortcomings?
Interesting….does this tack work well in other areas of your life?
Giving feedback to people who want their work products consumed often works well, but sometimes not so well. Many of the comments here were constructive. I consume a fair amount of independent media daily, and would say that by comparison, this one has a tendency to run on. That's all.
I don't mind the length at all.
No, don't
Screw off. The truth takes time. Want to be a brain surgeon? Prepare for a decade of study...
2 Thessalonians 2
Yep. And if the Ukraine funding was as important to Democrats as they claimed, they wouldn't have tried to tie it to their "Let's legalize illegal immigration" bill.
Obviously, legalizing illegal immigration was more critical to them.
Excellent - thank you. Hate to ask again:
An avalanche of articles on planes downed, including Russian AWACS - including several daily episodes from sub-stack 's pro-Russia "A Sceptic:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/russia-loses-tenth-war-plane-in-10-days/ar-BB1iYbhy
Where are the bodies? If that many airplanes, in particuar A-50 were shot down, somebody would have posted something already.
Virtually all of them fake. Several Russian military-linked sources already confirmed. In fact the one today appeared to be a Ukrainian Su-27--according to one report--which was shot down via friendly fire and then was re-fashioned as a "Russian Su-34".
Ukies lost hundreds (576+?) + 267 copters since 02/24/22.
Many thanks !!
Somebody should tell to sub-stack “A Sceptic” — who is pro-Russian but endlessly talks about these planes (which are not easily “renewable”, including for Russia should possibly try to get more from China which has about 30 of their own equivalents…
There are 5 in China.
There were 40 A-50s overall. Russians probably have more than the "few" as is understood.
Also, the first production A-100 should be in the process of delivery right now.
You are very decisive in your information.
I read ~30 equivalents to Awacs…..
I’ve followed Skeptic from the first. He’s great, but he is not an editor or analyst- he is a curator of others statements, posts, etc. it’s not his job to check the accuracy of each piece he reposts. Just appreciate all he does and use your own judgement.
Even if China were willing to sell or lease or whatever, crews are not something that are so easily replaced.
I’ve wondered which exact POWs were so dangerous that Ukraine had to shoot them out of the air rather than allow the plane to land…
Yeah, but they only killed a Russian pilot and crew; I like the direction of your thinking but I can’t agree with it; if it was intentional the target was the Ukrainian prisoners, not the Russian crew. IMHO.
Interesting…kinda like they targeted their own guys who were POWs last year….
Perhaps they don't want to normalize NATO behavior for western audiences.
They're still trying to say that they're not in a direct war with Russia. They know they will lose the public if they do admit it, they're not ready for that yet. Meanwhile they sheep dip their military and send them as mercs.
Nobody on influence and authority in the West cares what the public thinks.
Après moi, le déluge
From your lips to Gods ears…
“I, oh, must go on standing
You can't break that which isn't yours
I, oh, must go on standing
I'm not my own, it's not my choice
Be afraid of the lame
They'll inherit your legs
Be afraid of the old
They'll inherit your souls
Be afraid of the cold
They'll inherit your blood
Apres moi, le déluge “
But was that a prediction? Or a dismissal?
“After me? Come the flood.”
God willing...it was the best of times, it was the best of times 😆
Excellent as always. Thank you.
NATO boots on the ground = NATO bodies in the ground.
I could see Russia welcoming that move. Just more targets, and more consequences. I often wonder if at some point they say to certain nations: Hey, those missiles you made specifically for Ukraine were used to blow up a school in Russia and we have the proof. Keep it up and we will level that factory. You have been warned.
Russia doesn't want war with NATO. There's nothing to be gained a whole lot to lose.
Correct that they don't want a war with NATO, or anyone, but do not mistake that for meaning they won't.
Have you ever been in a position forced on you by a bully where you had two choices; fight and prevail, or cower and be be bashed?
That's fair.
Well best the US can do if there is a war in Europe is to stand behind and cheerleading the canon fodder to threw themselves onto the Russian spear
