Yes I can see now how your take that there had not been any preset charges inside the building and all it took were the charges inside the van, is perhaps the most straightforward.

Figure 4.1 from your linked document shows the possible dynamic of the explosion. Here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0bH7zkeack is another incident where a concrete building suffered complete defacing (2:36), the end result seems similar to the Oklahoma City building. However with the difference that here there was no explosion, but a domino fall given structural collapse in the foundations of the building, see 0:34. Anyhow this gives an idea the fragile nature of concrete poor in rebar and the pancake effect.

We'd need to check the seismic records, and whether the second larger signal was effectively due to the collapse of concrete slabs at top floors after having been invested by a shock wave from below like that in fig 4.1. I'd say the initial van conflagration, being from the ground and a point source, should have constituted the most intense signal detected by seismographers.

Obviously if any exists, a surveillance video from security cameras showing the dynamics of the incident would hugely help in shedding light on the whole incident.

One ought to check the conspiracy books mentioned in Unz's article to make sure if they covered these minutia.

So, in conclusion, the terrorist act responsibility lied entirely on the shoulders of McVeigh, who then afterwards proceeds to get caught at a checkpoint in a car without license plate. If he had used his own car or a rented one, he would have gotten away unscathed, I figure, but he chose to naively attract attention to himself like that, why? This certainly does not reach the level of absurdity of Mohammed Attah's lost luggage found intact at the airport, full of documents and plans inside, or the terrorists' ID card lost in plain sight on the ground after the Charlie Hebdo shootings, but still presents food for thought.
