Every time I game it out I come to the conclusion that Israel is living on borrowed time and has almost no self awareness of it. If there isn't a long term peace deal in Israel by the time Ukraine collapses, then I'm pretty sure they're doomed. The Russian war industry will be able to flood the region with weapons, drones and air defense and in numbers that the US Navy won't be able to overmatch... There is also the fact that Israel is a tiny country with only about 11M people surrounded by 1.5B Muslims.
SM-5 instead of SM-2 is on purpose, this is an election year and the Congress Critters want the MIC-IMATT to fill their pockets extra deep this year as much is up in the air, particularly the Democrats who don't have any wind in their sails from presidential campaign.
Hamas won't go for a ceasefire without a massive phased prisoner exchange, a permanent ceasefire and a guaranteed, armed, Palestinian state. No political faction in Israel will agree to this. So there's nothing to negotiate. An all out war against Hezbollah won't be protracted. It will be over in a month. Hezbollah doesn't have 150,000 missiles, 100,000 fighters and miles of tunnels to defend Lebanon. It has them to definitively end Israel in its current Zionist form. As Nasrallah has said, the next war will not be in Lebanon, it will be in Israel. Carpet bomb Beirut and Hez wipes Haifa off the map. Bomb it again, and there goes Tel Aviv. Do the Jews have the stomach for that kind of tit for tat? A couple of 100 thousand Palestinians in Gaza may tragically die in the meantime, but Israel is going to be crushed. Listen to them. Nasrallah and the Hamas and Houthi spokesmen are positively jaunty. They smile, they laugh, they mock, they tease. Because they know where this is going, and they know where it ends.
