The RATE project investigated the situation, and both it and the palaeontologists who look at such things, and who named "Mitochondrial Eve," both come to the same conclusion, ie something happened 6K years ago which radically either reduced the total number of women to one or a few - OR, this is when the first woman was created.
Obviously, being atheists, they prefer the first explanation; but the RATE team is unequivocal - earth is 6K y/o.
Science is divided up into the operational, practical kind, that creates the things you mention, and the abstract theory-generating kind.
It is this latter which has never told the truth about who we are, and where we come from.
Science never brought us penicillin anyway - nature, ie God, did that.

I was reading a report on paracetamol only yesterday - turns out you should never give it to children, it damages their brains through reducing to zero the body's master antioxidant, glutathione.
