‼️Breaking update with new satellite photos of Russia's Olenya base which claims to show destroyed Tu-95s: refresh the report above to see the new images.

John Galtsky's avatar

Thanks for the update. The photo shows four destroyed aircraft that look like Tu-95s and one An-12. You're right about this:

"However, some have claimed at least 2 of these do not appear to have had engines which could make them inoperable/backup or junk planes; there’s no way of knowing for definite at the moment."

Very well said.

If you travel around Russia and visit airbases (in past years you could just drive or walk up to the perimeters of some of the bigger ones and look at aircraft through the chain link fences) one of the things that strikes you is the vast number of Soviet-era aircraft parked in the bases. With well over 500 Tu-95 aircraft that's a huge number that are spread around being used as boneyard or parts aircraft. The problem for drone operators in an attack like the one that just happens is telling the boneyard aircraft from flyers.

Given the usual ratios of inoperable aircraft parked at airfields to active status ones, you have to divide any evidence of "killed" aircraft by 2 or 3 at least to get a real number of active aircraft killed. If you see evidence of four Tu-95's destroyed, count that as one or two flyers destroyed.

But all that is somewhat irrelevant as those aircraft had no role in the Ukraine conflict and didn't matter at all to Russia's strategic deterrent, which is based on missiles.

HBI's avatar

The attack is an irrelevancy. It reminded me of the V-weapons program. Waving your hand off in another direction to convince others that you aren't collapsing.

https://research.calvin.edu/german-propaganda-archive/goeb69.htm - I was reminded of this when reading the propaganda spewing from the Ukraine.

JimG's avatar

The Russian media has been minimizing the damage, but the PR problem is huge. Ukraine gets continuing support and Z looks like a hero. Reminder: Russia is fighting NATO, not Ukraine. Russia can kill every f'ing Ukrainian soldier and still lose the war. NATO gained more citizens thinking it is easy to take Russia down.

HBI's avatar

How do you figure? This is usual great power stuff. The longer the US stays invested, the worse the damage to prestige when we lose. The Ukraine cannot win. This is just like Vietnam and Afghanistan. For some reason we seem to be addicted to getting into fights we can't win.

I'm sure the Ukrainians are loving every minute of these meaningless propaganda blurbs as half the country has fled or been killed. The moment for crying uncle is very close as the retreats continue.

Kojo's avatar

In what alternative planet is Zelensky a "hero". The world knows he is a coked up figurehead. He has dragged his country into a pointless war, lost a third of his population to emigration, killed an entire generation of adult men and is now dragging teenagers off the streats to die in a meat grinder.

Who exactly his heroising him? Even his handlers in Langley and London dont respect him. They are using him, and they have his replacements in reserve.

That is being a tool, not a hero.

JimG's avatar

The American, British, and Western Mass Media (of course).

Kojo's avatar

That is an alternative planet which few actually believe. Their trust has dropped like a rock.

Hans Kloss's avatar

I think some have to be dragged and some go on their own. We do not know the proportion. Truth is however that until the majority grasps the depth of the problem there will not be a change. Even if their gov. signed a peace deal the hot heads would still want more war. And that is because the knockout effect is missing.

Franz Kafka's avatar

The Penis Piano Player looks like a hero only to late-stage syphilitics and people with IQ well below body temperature. What they believe or do not believe matters not at all, as they will believe the diametrical opposite tomorrow regardless of the actual facts. President Putin, like China, practices politics in the scale of thousand year bites, not 24 hour news cycles.

Feral Finster's avatar

It doesn't matter if all they actually hit were a couple of inoperable helicopters. The attack was successful, as to the extent it put Russian incompetence (such an attack was entirely predictable and not stopped) and indecision (pretend that anyone had tried such a stunt on the United States and imagine the reaction) on full display.

Terrorism is unavoidable. It is the resort of large Empires (the AngloZioshphere) when they cannot win any other way.

Franz Kafka's avatar

By being almost as nasty as the West.

Feral Finster's avatar

Even taking that as given, it worked.

Northern1312's avatar

Do what, exactly? Control a massive porous border? Saying that modern day Russia is weak because the USSR wasnt attacked with a technology that wouldn't come to exist for another 30 to 40 years seems extremely disengenious, even for you Feral.

Feral Finster's avatar

So why does nobody do this to the United States right now?

Northern1312's avatar

As you've said to several other posters in this thread;

So you don't have an answer. Gotcha.

aquadraht's avatar

Easy. Because there are no Russia, China, NK, Iran or whatever financed and intelligence supported groups at war with or in terror against the US.

I just read an article with the contents "damn, our B2 and B52 bases in the US are at least as vulnerable as the Russian ones". Maybe.

Franz Kafka's avatar

Lenin believed that quantity eventually becomes quality. Your row of questions proves him wrong. They are increasingly flaccid and silly.

PFC Billy's avatar

@Feral Finster

"How did the USSR do this?"

----------

The USSR never really DID "seal their border". With much smaller borders, the USA never really has either. Having crossed one of those countries borders more than once without interacting with their customs (not smuggling, just not wanting to waste time), I can say it ain't even hard if you know the terrain.

Feral Finster's avatar

Fair enough. We know such an attack is feasible. The question is why nobody does it, and the answer is because the consequences would be biblical.

PFC Billy's avatar

@Feral Finster

Yes, the majority of terrorist attacks ever carried out within the USA had to get past none of our borders as they originated from within the USA (many with either the tactical acquiescence of state security cadres or at their overt instigation).

None of our adversaries are under the illusion that terrorism by ACTUAL outside entities would benefit said outsiders, they would lack the required ability to spin the narrative and sculpt the public reaction toward any desired outcomes due to not owning the US "alternative" or MSM-

As far as meaningful degradation of any US military physical capabilities by "terrorists"? No.

Terrorism isn't about putting an armored division or a strategic bomber wing out of commission, it's about perceptions.

Simplicius's avatar

Well, one can't argue that even a single Tu-95 destroyed is pretty bad news from a variety of perspectives.

Feral Finster's avatar

Basically, another fuckup after fuckup.

Franz Kafka's avatar

Where in your row of "fuckups" do you put the 20% of formerly Ukrainian territory which is now Russia (with another 20% coming soon)? And where to do you put the current kill ratio in favor of Russia of 1:20?

Thank you for showing your Ukrainian finesse, quality of upbringing, level of thought and diplomatic ability. You are on perpetual ignore as a perfect waste of skin.

Hans Kloss's avatar

We will never know what the actual kill ratio is because the media lie to us all over the place. Even if the did not for knowing the truth all books would have to be opened and that is only possible if one side is conquered completely by the other. I do not see Russia trying and I do not see NATO succeeding w/o the world burning to the point this question becomes irrelevant.

Feral Finster's avatar

You are trying to change the subject.

rakyat kecil's avatar

G'day Simplicious, then why come out with what seems like Zanon stuff? Also did I miss your comments on the outright terror attacks on civilian transport and infrastructure with the loss of life again.

Franz Kafka's avatar

It is utterly irrelevant in practical terms. A small embarrassment in PR terms.

Russia practices war and realpolitik, and winning, while the Ukraine and the West play Goebbelsian/Bernaysian propaganda games starring a homosexual buffoon and cokehead, penis piano player.

Russia's one error lately has been to not flood the airwaves with a damage assessment of the Oreshnik strike. I suspect they will demonstrate it again, in several places, and correct that error.

Nothing Ukraine does now will save it.

In the end, just as people took down the color-atrocious Ukrainian rags (derived from an Austrian cavalry pennant), they will deny ever having supported the JudaeoNazi Quislings of Khuyev.

Hans Kloss's avatar

Whatever Russia does, the Western public gets only a curated view. The Americans do not even know where the war is and the EU citizens know only what the MSM tells them. There are minorities who have enough interest to find out what is a lie and to some extent what the truth my be. The way this went especially in EU - our "representatives" went so far and burnt so many bridges that the come back would require a military defeat or collapse of the existing power structure the way the French revolution destroyed the old France.

JimG's avatar

Andrei M. says Putin has been too considerate of Ukrainians entering Russia. He says Putin regards Ukrainians as Slavic brother. So they put up with quite a bit of terrorism which the West likes to punch them up with so Putin can looks peaceable. He also puts up with a lot of Russian radicals, although the Left paints him totalitarian. Putin leaves the bridges of the Dnieper flow with arms. And he has left a lot of places exist that others would have obliterated. I think they need to entirely re-do their PR and act less legalistic and patient, and a bit unhinged and dangerous. Everyone is sleeping tonight comfortably watching Rachael Meadow laugh at Putin rather than wondering if the lights will go on and if their cars will start in the morning, and why there is not electricity or water and not TV to watch Rachael on because NATO attacked Russia's nuclear triad.

Mikey Johnson's avatar

Hope you didnt miss the 4-minute film about the attack. It is on X and in one of my comments.

Uki always narrate and mix their films but you can clearly see enough planes getting destroyed or severly hit. It was striking that they didnt explode on contact. They landed on the planes and then detonated.

A recent media outlet report mentioned that the EU still imports 15% of gas demand from Russia via Southstream as well as LNG. Another media report yesterday from Zman concerned that Ukraine is running out of gas - dependent on flows from the EU

A clear message to back off can be made by suspending exports via pipeline and tanker for a period of time, citing 'security concerns'. A loss of 15% of vital imports during winter storage refill season (April - October) will make EU decision makers sit up and pay attention

If that message goes unheeded, start picking off the huge underground gas storage facilities one by one - bear in mind the Ukrainian UGS system, the third largest globally, account for over 25% of total EU bloc strategic reserve capacity.

Free Range Poverty Lawyer's avatar

Or blow up the new Baltics pipeline going from Norway to Poland. Tit for tat.

Or embargoing prescious metals and materials that Russia uniquely possesses.

I understand taking the high road but at some point it becomes foolish to fight a guy with your fists when he has a knife.

rakyat kecil's avatar

Yet isn't that the RFed plan to take the moral high ground in a street fight and complain to the umpire when their rules are impinged by the otherside. Business is of paramount importance not winning it seems.

Norma Brown's avatar

Of late you see the contrary side -- they play polite and fight to win. And they are winning and they will win. NATO should think twice about sending any troops. Russia has friends too, all of whom would like a chance at applying all the military training they have received at home and gaining field experience. Thus preparing for any challenges to their sovereignty down the road.

rakyat kecil's avatar

I hope you are right Norma but we will see what response comes from the attack on the numerous airfields and complete breach of security and second attack on Russia's nuclear capabilities.

Dhdh's avatar

NATO (negro and Tranny Org) has no troops to send.

Robert the Skeptic's avatar

No one in their right mind wants a world war. The risk of it going nuclear is frighteningly high. Then, who wins?

Feral Finster's avatar

Of course, we have been promised this victory for over three years now, but it never comes.

Stop kidding yourself.

Feral Finster's avatar

Crying "terrorist! No fair!"

Of course NATO and its Ukrainian buttboi are terrorists. What does Russia propose to do about it?

Gil's avatar

Interesting to note the new Baltics pipeline crosses over Nordstream, and was officially declared open days after the NS pipeline attack.

The whole premise of this war waged by NATO is control over the flow of energy

Norma Brown's avatar

and the port of Odessa. That is the Golden Fleece for NATO.

frankly's avatar

Sevastopol! Funny how the goals now differ from Minsk 1.0

Oh if they had it to do over? Yup same decisions, some still profit, no matter what cost the little folk pay.

Norma Brown's avatar

The pipeline thing -- it has resonance. Good thing I only do the dog-paddle in a pool and not skin-diving in the Baltic.

werner hillinger's avatar

And Germany had to lower the warning level for gas reserves.

Norma Brown's avatar

I heard they were rationing warm water, too. My reaction was, "next comes oxygen."

VHMan's avatar

No, no, let’s commodify oxygen and sell it to those who can afford it!

Norma Brown's avatar

OR ban it to our enemies. and nobody better share theirs with them, either!

rakyat kecil's avatar

That might have the unintended consequence of shortening the not a war in Russia's favour. I ask you is that likely?

Gil's avatar

Sites around Lvov and Ivano-Frankivst have been hit several times already, the last reported strike some time ago triggered a spike in gas prices on the Dutch TTF futures trading floor.

A high-impact non-kinetic option that would directly affect NATO nations, and turn the populations against the governments in protest at spiralling costs of living

Norma Brown's avatar

But Hungary and Slovakia and Serbia need that gas and are the EU troublemakers. We must support them!

Franz Kafka's avatar

That is what Oreshniks are for. That and destroying the vast underground cities that the Ruling Classes of Anglo-Zionists plan to sit out nuclear winter in. Destroy one or two, since Oreshnikking the steel plant, with city-sized fallout-shelter beneath it, in The Ukraine has not properly 'sunk in' yet.

Russia's mistake was allowing that strike to be silenced. They hoped politely, as always, that the Political and Presstitute SSholes of the West would sober up and mention something about it in the media! But "Hope springs eternal, Baldrick" as Blackadder used to say!

Russia should have done its own damage assessment and broadcast it.

Now, on coming strikes, it will be sure to do so.

Dhdh's avatar

have the Houthis hit the illegal jew state hard....

Feral Finster's avatar

Rather, NATO knows that Russia is loathe to escalate, so they strike with total impunity.

George Best's avatar

So? What can they do to Russia that hasn't been already tried and failed in the past three years?

Jesterus The Catificator's avatar

They do have a few options. Nuclear war would be an obvious one.

But also, they could, in theory, formally declare war on Russia in hopes that Russia yields.

Incredibly stupid move, but it's exactly the kind of thing that fits them politically.

George Best's avatar

Both these options are about as likely as a week with two Tuesdays.

NiggleS's avatar

By Who?

And why does Russia care what they do?

UpgradeToFounding's avatar

Russia is not the only nuclear armed state, but even a strategic nuke would pit NATO immediately against Russia and with what I am seeing, they are not ready for a fight on 3 different fronts. Iran would cow out, NK would not be able to do much if anything, China would play it all off "we are not involved". What escalation would you expect?

grr's avatar

"Iran would cow out" Bullshit.

"NK would not be able to do much if anything" More bullshit.

"China would play it all off "we are not involved"." Absolute bullshit.

A trifecta. Congratulations.

Gisela's avatar

What evidence is there that convinces you that China would step up to the plate and support Russia militarily? Thanks.

grr's avatar

Everything that the Chinese and Russians have said about that reinforces that fact.

Steghorn21's avatar

Because if Russia goes, China is next. Same reason both Russia and China support Iran.

Kennewick Man's avatar

Absolutely correct! For China to allow Russia to be taken down would be a suicidal act.

Feral Finster's avatar

Yet China limits its support to Russia out of fear of secondary sanctions.

China just wishes that this whole thing would go away. This is naive in the extreme.

Alpacko's avatar

Seeker's avatar

You do know the Chinese have officially stated that if European troops are deployed to Ukraine they will become directly involved? Russia is a part of a military block the CSTO (collective security treaty organization). This is a security organization of former Soviet states in the East Russia has not gotten to the point where they had to activate the security members for help. North Korea is already involved, Iran is already involved supplying drone technology since 2022. The only major Eastern states that would be in doubt would be India and Vietnam having very good relationship since the days of the USSR.

rakyat kecil's avatar

G'day seeker, how many European troops has the RF killed in Ukraine but I haven't seen any Chinese response. Evidence suggests even Western senior officers have died alongside their hohol allies. Simp has written of the deaths repeatedly.

Seeker's avatar

The alleged European combatants that are casualties in the conflict are unofficial not direct participants from NATO countries. If European countries send troops under their flags officially then that is legally a different situation. What the Chinese have done for the Russians is much more than direct military involvement as China is the reason Russia is not having very serious inflation. So China is having an economic offensive against the US while Russia keep them occupied with military realities.

Mr House's avatar

All of this reminds me of the Spanish Civil War before the breakout of WW 2

Feral Finster's avatar

"You do know the Chinese have officially stated that if European troops are deployed to Ukraine they will become directly involved?"

Link? The only statement I have seen is a warning from NATO to China to keep out.

They can take it to the chin and slowly perform the SMO until objectives achieved.

What is mezmerising is that they seem to have no plan to achieve de-nazifying, de-militarization, sanctions lifted and the 5 oblasts recognized by the ”international order”.

What we see is the crawling to secure the four oblasts and a cordon sanitaire in front of Orel, Kursk, Brijansk and Belgorod.

How do they think they can lift the sanctions without deploying some force to the demand?

It is obvious Putin is hoping for a pragmatic solution were US/EU force Ukraine to comply instead of escalating and risk a doomsday War. It could very well succeed with enough patience.

Patience and perception is what Ukis, little brits and other evil master are battling.

Make Russians patience were off. Build up a perception of defeat with controlled media and stunts/real damage to the Russian federation. They cant military wise defeat Russia and I think US already knows it.

The escalation option is still there and I dont see how Russia could achieve all objectives with the ”SMO” without a clear slap in the face on the UK/EU.

Anna's avatar

Yoni Reinón's avatar

They are exagerating the success of the attack. NATO claims between 30 and 40 planes whereas Russia concedes only 5. The point is to make Putin look weak before the Russian citizens, make his feet tumble and get regime change in Russia by 5th or 6th columnists, like some GM posting here, what has always been NATOs goal. Two ways or warefare are clashing in Ukranian: the Russian industrial warfare, and the western psychological warfare. Both excede at their own realm. The Russians are methodical. The anglosaxons are spectacular. The new attach on Kerch tries to make the Russians look desperate. Its all about perception. Whereas Russia seems to prevail at a ground materialistic level, they seem cornered at an ideological informational level. Putin's reputation certainly took a blow. The country seems defenceless and unresponsive. But Trump lost the last sparks of his winner halo too. He looks like a puppet or a liar or both. All to provoke a world war which will withdraw the western unpayable debt and secular theft on the world. They will keep on banging the bear's head, since it doesnt retaliate to the serpent's head.

“Spectacular” attacks just for show accomplish nothing inside Russia. Neither the leadership nor the citizenry are deterred in the least from continuing to prosecute the war. They are no less motivated or capable than before. In contrast, Russia’s material destruction of Ukraine’s military and its infrastructure hamper its ability to continue fighting. That is the very reason why Ukraine is resorting to show off tactics.

I will give the Ukies some credit for being willing to sacrifice everything in a losing cause—and I do mean everything by the time this war is finished. Or perhaps they deserve an award for pigheaded stupidity. Oh, it’s the stupid award for sure.

The most striking thing is Russia’s display of self-discipline. They absorbed the provocations without overreacting, which I suspect caught NATO off guard. The Russian strategy remains intact; either a peace agreement on Moscow’s terms, or the full capitulation of Kiev.

GM's avatar

Hezbollah was self-disciplined too.

What happened to them?

Hmb's avatar

True. But perhaps what exacerbated their situation is that they’re not a conventional army with a wide geography. On top of that, most Lebanese factions either oppose them outright or reject their broader vision, which likely limits their operational flexibility. Either way, Hezboallah and Russian military capabilities are not comparable.

Of course, I’m no expert, just a humble personal observation.

GM's avatar

Hezbollah was supposed to have amassed a vast underground missile arsenal capable of disarminig Israel.

But all they did was taking some potshots at limited range across the border.

They made zero attempt to kill the Israeli airforce, which was they key part of preventing themselves being destroyed, and did no damage on Israeli general infrastructure either. Hit the desalination plants, and what happens in Israel?

This even after the heavy bombs started raining all over Lebanon.

Which, BTW, has not stopped to this day, despite Hezbollah's capitulation.

Sure, Russia is vast, has enormous resources, etc. It will be much harder to bring down. But the resources are not infinite (as the planes acutely demonstrate -- all that Russia can muster right now as new production is 1-2 Tu-160M a year) and the exact same principle applies, it is only a matter of time.

Free Range Poverty Lawyer's avatar

And if Russia would have fully supported Syria about 10 years ago, by giving them advanced air defense to stop Israel from bombing at will, then both Syria and Lebanon might still be in the axis of resistance today.

werner hillinger's avatar

I am not so sure. Someone must have given the Houthis all their fancy equipment - I see no way that this arsenal was built on spot, as I see no way that Hezbollah could produce anything without external deliveries. As both parties have the same supplier, and this supplier is under pressure too, Hezbollah, contrary to the picture painted by Isreal, might have been an empty shell.

Velociraver's avatar

By that logic, Ukraine's time will run out first.

Johannes S. Herbst's avatar

The toll of civilian life, health and structure was too high. And lebanon ist not united, there are several fractions.

Glasshopper's avatar

Indeed. They know every Hezbollah village, neighbourhood / area, where the parents, grandparents, children, disabled, livestock etc live. So the fighters are safe in the tunnels, while their civilians are slaughtered. The price of resistance is too high.

rakyat kecil's avatar

But without resistance they are slaughtered perennially anyway. Arabs are Amaleks to the Mizrahi not just the Palestinians.

Feral Finster's avatar

So, you are saying that Israeli tactics work.

Glasshopper's avatar

Of course they work. Hezbollah went to war, with no air defence, against an air power that had intelligence on the whereabouts of their families and communities.

Feral Finster's avatar

Jews have had 100 years to realise the full extent and import of Zionism and here all we are in 2025 watching The Jewish State happily smear children across the rubble of their refugee dwellings.

Dhdh's avatar

why do you defend the jew?

zionist = jews.

NYU defines Zionist is an identity meriting protection under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. IHRA definition will be across the JewSA because that is what the jew wants..

rakyat kecil's avatar

G'day Johannes, check out the survey done in Ireal in regards the genocide in Gaza it is supported by more than just the Kahanists or settlers etc at over 60%. So secular European Ashkenazims support as well.

Johannes S. Herbst's avatar

You seem to overlook the fact that not all Jews are living in Israel. Lies from Netanjahus Government and neglect of security have caused their hate towards all Palestininans. That was not always the case.

Russia would be advised to take these hits, hit back where it can without spiralling this, and continue with its advance. I know it is hard to swallow this but the Europeans are reaching a break point with their own escalation efforts without putting in troops on the ground. Once they do this Russia can really finish them off as has happened to NATO and the US in bygone times. It is a european disaster waiting in the wings, not a Russian one.

Yoni Reinón's avatar

Since London lost their Russian collateral assets, the City lost the capacity to both flush new credits and pay back the existing ones. The debt is unpayable without new debt emissions. The only issue is default... Or hardship clauses like WAR to withdraw the debt. The will eventually nuke Russia to get to their goal the question belng only how soon.

Jullianne's avatar

No, the war will not go nuclear. Russia has the capacity to strike european capitals and that closes this option down. Nor will they put in troops on the ground. Support for Ukraine will be withdrawn first so that Ukraine is forced into a surrender deal. This is how this will end.

Victor's avatar

Not so certain about that. The Western faction running this show is not any government but financiers and banking interests. Such are not concerned with loyalty to any state. They have run out of collateral to support their debt, so their only realistic Get-Out-of-Jail option is war to cancel that debt. Russia and China understand this and act accordingly with great patience.

Jullianne's avatar

Yeah, but nuclear war does not serve the financier interests either. Rather they will turn the thumb screws on european governments and the UK to make good their holes- at the expense of citizens as is already being planned.

Victor's avatar

Certainly nukes will be the last choice, if they survive financially that long.

aj hollis's avatar

The corrupt political puppets placed into power in Britain and most of Europe, have no concern for the well being of the citizens of these nations. This can be seen with the ethnic cleansing both from the ongoing Covid19 biological terror attacks, and mass importation of militants primarily from Muslim States that have suffered for multiple decades from the Zionists that control Western Governments through Banking and 5th column business and political leaders.

Steghorn21's avatar

The problem is that although they might not want nuclear war, their stupid and evil actions might well provoke that. They have no understanding of what they are doing. It would be very easy to blunder into nukes.

Simon Robinson's avatar

This perhaps is why Russia, China and others are stacking up physical Gold and Silver like there's no tomorrow. Western FIAT economies are bankrupt and it looks like nobody is buying US Treasuries, they're selling.

Dhdh's avatar

That is true but how else can nato (Jews) escalate ? It will not go nuclear

Victor's avatar

I wouldn't count on that - if they are desperate they might just go off the rail.

Yoni Reinón's avatar

Steghorn21's avatar

You're thinking rationally, Jullianne, which is something that isn't happening in London, DC, Berlin and Paris. These people would be happy destroying the world if they thought it could stop Russia and China. Nothing will change until the current Western leadership is expelled and replaced.

Anna's avatar

Current western “leadership” decides nothing. BlackRock and financial Vampire Squid, made of degenerate super-wealthy banking families, decide everything.

The US is an oligarchy.

The UK is a kingdom owned by zio-banking cartel; ‘ Friends of Israel in the UK’ dominate everywhere.

Western civilization was devoured by bankers and by war profiteers like Blair, Arbuthnot, Cheney, et al.

The shameless kol-nidreied global jewry has been playing its usual subversive role.

werner hillinger's avatar

Your view is correct and would have been the most important issue some years ago. But the (Western) world is facing an economic crisis, not a financial one. Of course, when looking at Starmer, Merz, or Macron, these leaders do not even know what they are facing, but they will learn it the hard way. Remember, the last economic crisis was the oil shock; that was in the '70s. Only people well above the age of 70 have personal experience with such a crisis—and you will find hardly any of them not being retired.

jsarnak's avatar

I am sorry to break the news to you. "This" everything you see right now IS the US. It is not "The Europeans" or NATO or Ukraine. I cannot believe so many "trusted sources" in alternative media are now parroting this nonsense. Once again people want to believe so they will but these "analysts" really just people who make a bunch of money pushing intel agency talking points. Go back and listen to Pete the Zionist in his very 1st speech to those Europeans. He told them exactly what they would do which is they would lead the publicity charge in the fight against Russia. The CIA is and has been embedded in Ukraine since the 40's and 50's. Your premise that Russia does NOT want to bring in the US is not it. The Kremlin knows the US is in and has been in, President Putin does not brief me, but he is not relying on the NYT and Washington Post to decide if the US knows about the terrorist attacks that itself is planning and executing. I don't know why I bother , people "believe" what they want even when the evidence is overwhelming.

Mike O’Neill's avatar

I agree. The USA Deep State and the neocons in government have been running American foreign policy for many decades.

Trump blabbered before the recent attacks on Russian air assets that “bad things can happen..”

Of course he knew and approved them.

Martin's avatar

Indeed, Nuland said something similar then shortly afterwards a terrorist attack occurred.

Ukraine’s attack had little military value, just embarrassment and minor financial loss for Russia. The real goal was poisoning US-Russia relations.

Three possibilities:

Ukraine went rogue, attacking without telling the US, proving it sabotages US interests.

US intel knew but didn’t tell Trump, those responsible should be jailed.

The White House knew and lied, destroying trust.

Russia can’t be sure the US was unaware. Attacking bombers violates the trust behind treaties like START. If a Russian ally hit US bombers, America would blame Moscow and likely go to war.

Consequences:

If Trump knew, any US-Russia reconciliation is dead. China will note the betrayal.

If the Deep State hid this, their sabotage is terrifying.

If Ukraine thought falsely implicating the US would work, they miscalculated.

If Trump truly didn’t know, he must act decisively to restore credibility.

Either way, trust is shattered.

"The europeans are desperate to provoke Russia into an escalation that they hope will bring in the US to support their own escalations."

Taking that as given, if Russia doesn't respond the way the europeans want, the solution is simply to keep behaving more and more recklessly until they get the desired response.

It's a no-lose game. Keep taking cheap shots until Russia finally responds, then run screaming to the Americans.

Of course, if the United States were serious about not intervening, they need only publicly and plainly state that if europe persists in such behavior, the United States will not come to their rescue, including if Russia hits back. Watch european tails tuck between european legs.

That the United States does not make such statement tells us all we need to know.

Jullianne's avatar

Meanwhile Russia is advancing in Ukraine. It is not sitting there inert taking the punishment. It is simply that the punishment is bouncing off a very tough hide. But when the time comes it will turn its attention to these irritants and deal with them. It is getting stronger all the time. There is a level of escalation to which these euronutters cannot go. and Russia has good defences against everything else. Of course they can bring the end of the world down on their own heads and every one else's. They are not however that daft or suicidal.

The next practical level is troops on the ground. They have tried threatening that and Russia just beckoned them into the abyss. They backed off. This is where we really are. Russia will turn Ukraine and then it can consider what to do with the likes of Starmer and Macron. This is the denouement that is on the horizon, not some prospect of an ever greater escalation of western might!

Feral Finster's avatar

We've been hearing that cope for years as well.

Jullianne's avatar

It has indeed been a long slow grind to victory. That is not a cope. It is just the Russian way of winning, FF.

Feral Finster's avatar

This mythical "Russian way of winning" is another cope, ignoring examples when Russia was decisive such as the Brusilov Offensive, Bagration, August Storm, or, for that matter, the invasion of Czechoslovakia or the 2008 war with Georgia.

Those are just the first examples off the top of my head.

As an average American, I'm torn:

Shouldn't we be focusing on improving the lives of Americans? Wouldn't peace and free trade with China and Russia help that goal? Why do we care about how other countries get run?

On the other hand...

If what the history books and the media shows us is true, then the corruption and abuse of those countries needs to stop. But can America really try to lecture others, when our country has so much corruption and issues of its own?

grr's avatar

As an average "American" (Mexican? Peruvian?) your ignorance and bias is showing and expected. China and Russia corrupt and abusive according to your media and your equally laughable "history" books LOL

Jeannie's avatar

We have enough corruption in our own country to keep us busy for decades. China and Russia are choir boys compared to what's going on in Europe. The US and its "allies" have no business preaching to anyone.

This is about power and money, not spreading "democracy".

Haywood Jablome's avatar

Having worked overseas for 22 years I had to listen to the bullshit Americans continually lecture us on corruption and the FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act). The people/companies that broke that act consistently were Americans or American companies. Then there was the UK Bribery Act which was as much of a joke as the FCPA. Holier than thou Americans need to fuck off.

How about Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal spending US$800,000 taxpayer dollars on their recent hotel stay in Kiev? Couple of day stay and nearly a million spent. How many Ukraine male models did that queer Graham pay to polish his knob? Or is most of it being funneled back into his offshore bank accounts?

Jeannie's avatar

We keep trying to get our country back, but the rot in our government is deep. Our allies aren't any better.

Victor's avatar

Way too deep. The only remaining options are socio-economic implosion or revolution, either leading to a new America - the question being, "What kind of America?".

Ravishing Rudey's avatar

Why is it necessary for America to be in the business of 'monitoring' or intervening in other countries? I know that the American public don't want this, and never have wanted it. So they have to be spun a children's story to whip up their emotions. Your enemy is your own system, not Russia or anyone else. If there is endemic corruption in another country it is the responsibility of that countries populace to fight against it.

I don't understand how you can be "torn".

GM's avatar

>Shouldn't we be focusing on improving the lives of Americans?

The only reason the lives of Americans are as good as they are right now is that the US is looting much of the rest of the world.

The primary reason America did not collapse already in the 1990s was that the USSR convenitantly did so first and the West got a chance to loot it as well as all other territories that used to associate with the Soviet bloc.

But the effects from that shot in the arm wore off by the mid-00s. Thus going to war now.

NiggleS's avatar

You need to specify who is the "we" in your questions.

You *especially* need to separate "history books" and media as sources. Hint: treat media sources the way science does; as irrelevant untrustworthy gossip.

And you *absolutely* need to stop colouring other countries as "corrupt" and "abusive" unless you live in a totally corruption and abuse free country (insert saying about glass houses and throwing stones)

Zelensky, and friends with benefits, operation Web mirrors Hitler's desperate final stand using V2 rockets on England. All it does is create sensationalism for the press to latch onto, but the war is already lost.

Operation Web took out several obsolete Russian planes, which had no use in this war. Those old bombers are just for show and modelling, anyway. Russia can easily cover the cost of the planes and surcharge by taking more land in Ukraine, like Odessa.

Operation Web was a failure; it expended its resources on a superficial target that did not pose a threat and offered false hope in the media. Zelensky, like Hitler, both manic druggies, lose their focus and go mad with no real effective strategic planning.

Simplicius got it right when he said "I suppose it’s easy for the manic ‘high’ phase to over-compensate after such a painfully long period of dismal disappointment, but I regret to inform them that today’s strikes will change nothing, apart from deepening the nails into the soggy wood of Ukraine’s coffin."

In the four months after liberation in early May 1945, Czech paramilitaries, army units, and local vigilantes drove hundreds of thousands of Germans from their homes and across the borders of occupied Germany and Austria, brutalizing and killing many in the process. Euphemistically dubbed the "wild transfer" in subsequent Czech historiography, this stage ended soon after the allied powers approved of an "organized transfer" at the Potsdam conference in August 1945. Part two of the expulsion process began in January 1946, with most of Czechoslovakia's remaining two million Germans making a forced, but relatively orderly, exit on special trains to occupied Germany."

4. We are defending a noble purpose, not special interest

5. The enemy is purposefully causing atrocities; we only commit mistakes

6. The enemy is using unlawful weapons

7. We have very little losses, the enemy is losing big

8. Intellectuals and artists support our cause

9. Our cause is sacred

That’s not factually correct. Russia has never directly targeted civilian targets in themselves. There are cases where Ukrainian forces and NATO trainers were identified at meetings in hotels and were successfully destroyed with some collateral civilian deaths.

Know that this SMO has the lowest collateral death rate of any conflict for decades.

We won’t even mention Israel and their US backed genocide of Palestinians or the various “shock and awe” air attacks of the USA in Middle East that have literally killed millions of civilians.

But to explain the irony before: Yes, I disagree with your comments, I find them absolutely false and absurd, given the amounts of evidence of strikes on civil infrastructure, given the first-hand experiance I have with UA refugees and given the agelong level of respect for people's lives in Russia / USSR. This begs the question: what kind of black swan are the Ukrainians waiting for?

Ravishing Rudey's avatar

Of course they aren't, it's just a show to placate Trump.

NiggleS's avatar

They AREN'T interested in negotiations, they want to prolong their time at the money trough (more importantly: their sponsors time) as long as they can.

The black swan they want is for the US to go all in and back NATO in a full war against Russia.

Feral Finster's avatar

Why should Ukrainians be interested in negotiations? They will be interested when they have no other choice. Nobody in Washington, nobody in Brussels, nobody in Kiev cares in least, as it's not their children going into the meat grinder.

It also more importantly predicted the end of Ukraine, regardless of what the west will do. OOK will devolve into civil infighting with dissolution of the fake soviet entity. In fact OOK was the soviets only glory and when Mr Putin spoke in 2022 ,he mentioned DeLeninsation meaning OOK. …..In fact, NATO had invited Russia to join their club as a member following the 1991 collapse of the USSR. That was one of the reasons behind the coup against Gorbachev, for the old communists saw this as the surrender of Russia, and he was forced to decline. About 8.6 years later, there was a real live plot to interfere in the Russian Presidential Election of 2000 to seize control of Russia and even bring it inside NATO. This time it would involve the oligarchs trying to sell Russia to the

USA and blackmail Yeltsin with the help of a key New York banker—Edmond Safra. The Clinton Administration was well aware that in 1996 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the oligarchs created their Davos Pact to rig the re-election of Yeltsin. The scheme for 2000 was to make Boris Berezovsky Yeltsin’s successor, as he wanted Russia to join the West and NATO based on the fact that they had absorbed their prior enemies, Germany and Japan.

Oh, this is not my opinion or some conspiracy theory I stitched together, nor Russia’s propaganda. The truth has at last surfaced with even a partial declassification of the secret documents from the Clinton Administration. Like the Kennedy Assassination, they no doubt have refused to release the most revealing evidence. The Moscow Times has even regarded Berezovsky’s effort to reelect Yeltsin as critical in 1996. They wrote on January 22, 2014: “The Communists, lead by Gennady Zyuganov, stood to retake power in the coming presidential elections, just as they had retaken the State Duma in December 1995. For Russia’s new business elite, the oligarchs, a communist victory would surely result in the seizure of the assets they had accumulated over the previous few years. And that was the best-case scenario…..

One last big push to encourage Russians to bring down Putin. This is how this started and it signals the end, not via success but failure. Then we will get a deal to end this war meaning a Ukrainian surrender once western support is conclusively withdrawn- for now.

The west does not want to lose Odessa and so knows it has to force this Russian offer on Ukraine while it is still on the table UNLESS the Russians can finally be persuaded to knock out Putin, which is not looking promising especially since these attacks have been no where near as successful as Ukraine promised.

Jeannie's avatar

Why would the West want to bring down Putin? The next guy is going to be far more aggressive.

What the West would like is to stir up a civil war or something that will make it easier for Russia to be broken up into more easily manipulated regions.

Russia must win it so decisively on the battlefield that the victory must not be seen as a stalemate but as a comeplete unconditional surrender of ukraine and capitulation in front of everyone. It must be done on tiktok, X, every major social media. Live

Well your not going to get that, I don't ever see the current Ukrainian leaders surrendering, even if they lose another 5m people. Even if the last km of Ukraine is not in Russian control someone will be there to fire drones and missiles into Russia.

Capitulation, under the current method is going to take years or decades. Russia cannot sustain 20% inflation and a contract army for that long so what else does Russia plan to do when Ukraine never gives in?

imho, Russia should directly blow up the next white powder western caravan that makes its way to Kiev. Killing an unelected bunch of EU leaders visiting a war zone is not a declaration of war. It would send a powerful message and does not require any strike on NATO. I can think of a few possible EU leaders that would not incite their populations to revenge but might elicit a general thanks to Russia.

I would take that imbecile Keith Kellogg’s damascene moment with a huge dose of salt, these Trump Assholes including Kellogg are playing Russia… they are and always have been co-belligerents, remaining so, every utterance regarding peace a sham, faux overtures whilst surreptitiously and nefariously green lighting, aiding and abetting every action including as we know from recent disclosures, Trumps administration despite advice denying knowledge of the recent attacks especially upon the Nuclear Triad Delivery Assets, have admitted to Green, ighting and being aware of approving the assassination campaign that has beset Russia targeting as it has military officers, journalists and citizens including one sweet Daughter of Russia as noted below… thus the U.S for all their bull shitzen denials are neck deep and fully inculcated this asymmetric Victoria Nuland announced terror warfare campaign being waged by the Azov Nazi scum led that drug addled pervert Elinskyy, he who made illegal the use of the letter “Z” go figure, says it all..

Following is a recent post in reply to Kremlin and Putin adviser, father of the late great Darya Dugina, [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darya_Dugina … Darya Aleksandrovna Dugina, also known under the pen name Daria Platonova, was a Russian journalist, political scientist, and activist. She was the daughter of Aleksandr Dugin, a far-right political philosopher, whose political views and support for Vladimir Putin she shared ] sadly assassinated by the same Ukrainian terrorists led the aforementioned drug addled khaki clad pervert in Kiev, thus my response to the esteemed and beloved Prof Alexander Dugin.. answering and warning of the duplicit U.S behaviour, of their double speak, put simply the U.S, anything represented, undertaking given, promise made, agreement or contract signed cannot and must never be taken seriously, they are a nation who by their deeds and actions have proven and shown unequivocally they are not to be nor can be trusted.. period!!!

“Putin Wants All of Ukraine”: Dugin Breaks Down Trump’s Statement.

Hi Alexander, Prof Dugin, Your point made at the outset of your article “Trump sincerely wants to stop the war, and in my view, there is no deceit or falsehood in this. But he does not understand what kind of war this is“ …. to a degree I concede is correct. However I disagree with your argument and especially, that once again it seems that there exists a completely misguided faith that Russia is hanging onto by endeavouring to meet Trump and or his poisonous rhetoric and or demands, either Russia is involved in a unique and complex chess game with the most dangerous moves being this passive acceptance of every insult levelled at either the State or its Leadership, or once again Putin and leadership have because of wishful thinking misread the room, I admit, obviously I am not privy to every nuance determining or contributing to such a reaction, however my rationale for this thinking is as follows.. First and foremost Russia must keep uppermost in all of its thinking and deliberations just who are the actual prognosticators and belligerents, we know unequivocally the U.S has been primarily so and continues to be, undertaking such a position we know has been their want and agenda eversince the fall of the USSR, actually when one thinks about it, it is truly similar to the position adopted immediately post WW2, when we know the U.S together the U.K worked through their OSS, forerunner the CIA to destabilise via asymmetric means the USSR including especially upon the territory of Ukraine, many lives were lost and taken as a consequence, fast forward the present and the U.S are doing the exact same again, except this time more surreptitiously contrasted the overt basis they did so post WW2. The U.S leading and calling the shots have had a presence in that Nazi infested shithole Ukraine, culminating the CIA Paramilitaries, the numerous CIA Bases 14 at last count established on the Border, since the breakup of the USSR, as we know via USAID, the State Department, Victoria Nuland, Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt they orchestrated the overthrow of a legitimately elected government, provided hardware, intelligence, co ordinated and trained a proxy armed force Russia now fights, installed the new government, making top appointments to key roles, oversaw the shelling and illicit tactics deployed against Russian speaking Ukrainians in the Donbas, Odessa, Zaparozhiya, and other Oblasts, had senators, political figures visiting both during and post the coup, publicly campaigning and calling for the overthrow of an elected leader and government, political interference writ large crikey, I say on steroids, they have supplied Weapons, and to top it off, from the beginning through the recent Raw Minerals agreement plundered and pillaged ex favourable terms Ukraines resources, bought the most productive lands, undertaken privatisation of Key Government Assets, stripping Ukraine just as occasioned the former USSR the 1990’s, they now call for peace all whilst arming and funding Ukraine, providing ongoing intelligence together their Western co Belligerents comprising the group of 50. In short they, the U.S and West just cannot be trusted, they speak with a forked tongue, their intentions far from gracious, noble nor friendly, this whilst present CIC Trump, throws poisonous barbs by way of his Soc Media Posts and verbals.. he is aided and abetted his administration using as he is the imbecilic Kellogg as is his want to whom it seems he pays great heed, whilst the true anti war members of his administration are sidelined, well, certainly upon the face of it one could so construe. In short I just would not trust the Americans, Russia does so as its peril, Russia is superior by way of Military Industrial Complex, militarily and mil technologically, in short it has become and rightfully reclaimed its position as a true Super power, its diplomats far better, its armed forces and defence industries light years ahead of the entire combined West, Russia is winning decisively against NATO, whilst the need to balance and be seen by Russia’s allies especially heavyweights China, India, Brazil, Indonesia etc.. together the Middle Eastern monarchic states is of great import, I feel the time for Russia to dictate has come, thus there can be no more placating, acquiescence nor subtle acceptance of Western belligerence, of its bellicose rhetoric of the rubbish espoused, nope, no longer. It’s time or seems damn close to the time that Russia needs to just say and respond with what needs to be said in response to the many barbs thrown, backing such responses up by being firm and prepared to back up its words as required, just as recently has been done the Baltics against those big mouthed pirates, thieves and wannabes. Russia has come through this baptism and crucible of fire with flying colours, time to stand tall, no longer pushed or to be pushed around, time the world treated you with the respect the nation has earned and as a result of recent successes on the battlefield in the diplomatic arena, so richly deserves, no longer to be timid, shy, instead, time for confidence, strength, and why not, what is there to stop Russia… five eights of f..k all I say. Thank you and your comment underlines the truly repugnant and banal group think that dominates so called “society” in the U.S, it truly is an indictment on the nation that there is a seemingly rabid lust for death, destruction, injury, War… the number of nations that the the former European Kingdoms Holland, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Germany, the Pole Dancers have decimated especially in Africa and South America is legendary, however compared to the efforts of the U.K which as we know are off of the charts they having genocided many indigenous populations but then their efforts pale against the nation at the clear top of this hit parade… the U.S.. the following are telling statistics..

The Korean War (1950-53), up to 30% percent of the North Korean population were killed in the course of the Korean war.

“We Killed Off – What – Twenty Percent of the Population. We Burned Down every Town in North Korea…”

The above quotation is from General Curtis Lemay, who coordinated the bombing campaign (1950-53).

During the Korean War, the DPRK lost more than 25% of its population.

The Vietnam War (1965-1975).

According to a Vietnamese government statement in 1995 the number of deaths of civilians and military personnel during the Vietnam War was 5.1 million. (2)

Since deaths in Cambodia and Laos were about 2.7 million (See Cambodia and Laos) the estimated total for the Vietnam War is 7.8 million.

The Virtual Truth Commission provides a total for the war of 5 million, (3) and Robert McNamara, former Secretary Defense, according to the New York Times Magazine says that the number of Vietnamese dead is 3.4 million. (4,5) (Lucas, op cit)

The Indonesian massacre sponsored by US Intelligence (1965)

Indonesian Army death squads in 1965 and checked them off as they were killed or captured. Martens admitted that “I probably have a lot of blood on my hands, but that’s not all bad. There’s a time when you have to strike hard at a decisive moment.” (1,2,3) Estimates of the number of deaths range from 500,000 to 3 million. (4,5,6)

The so-called Soviet Afghan War (1979-1989).

The U.S. is responsible for between 1 and 1.8 million deaths during the war between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan, by luring the Soviet Union into invading that nation. (1,2,3,4) (Lucas op cit)

* The Afghan War (2001- ) led by the US and NATO,

* Ongoing War on Palestine

* The Iraq War (2003- ),

* The War on Lebanon (2006),

* The US proxy War on Syria (2011-),

* NATO’s War on Libya (2011-),

* The Saudi-UAE War on Yemen (sponsored by the US)

* US Military interventions in Angola (1970s),

* The Congo “Civil War”

* Sudan’s “Civil War” (1955-), Casualties in excess of 2 million

* The Rwanda “Civil War” (1990-1994)

* NATO’s wars on Yugoslavia (1991-1999)

* Military coups in numerous countries including Brazil, Bolivia, Panama, Chile, Grenada, Haiti, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Iran, Bangladesh, Pakistan, East Timor, Philippines, and many more.

The Casualties of “The Post-War Era”

60 million lives lost during World War II and another 20 million lost during the “post-war era” according to estimates, total: more than 80 million lives.

What Would Happen if a Third World War Were to Break Out?

While one can conceptualize the loss of life and destruction resulting from WWI, WWII as well as Iraq, Syria and Yemen, it is impossible to fully assess the devastation which would result from a Third World War, using the most advanced weapons systems until it actually occurs and becomes a reality, and then it is too late.

Yemen, Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, Kashmir, Syria, all being theatres the U.S is presently engaged not forgetting its misadventures fomenting conflicts in Chechnya, Georgia earlier this century… all instigated to satisfy a lust for conflict that dominates..

Recall .. the only reason for staying in Afghanistan so long, with no prospect of was to secure control of Afghanistan's resources for the US. Or, more correctly, for the oligarchs who control US policy and who will reap the benefits--while the people of the US (and Afghanistan, much more so) pay the costs.

FACT: The land under poppy cultivation (and opium production) has tripled since the US entered Afghanistan in 2001, helped by US spending for wells, roads and "reconstruction." Opium sales netted the U.S $200Billion per annum on average each year the U.S was on the ground… nice to know your service if you served had such huge upside.. though the real cause was despicable .. little wonder leaving all that hardware there hardly caused angst, by the date of withdrawn, do the math, 20x $200b =….. what’s a few lazy billion in hardware compared to that windfall…

FACT: Ground was broken for Afghanistan's first gas pipeline, TAPI, in December 2015, though it still needs investors. It is in part a joint venture between Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, thus the name TAPI. Presumably the militaries of all these countries can be enlisted to protect the pipeline. And presumably, private pipeline projects will remain on hold until their security can be guaranteed by US taxpayers.

Connect the dots. As pipeline projects expand, as the number of mines increases, as Afghanistan retains its role as the world's #1 heroin-producing nation, so will our military presence remain, and grow… Syria and Assad, his ouster was because he said no to the Mid East Monarchies, Israel, Turkey led the U.S pipeline deal to pipe gas and oil to Europe via Turkey… for exercising a sovereign rate he was regime changed, his nation sanctioned into oblivion and the U.S occupied (still do) the Syrian oil fields and wheat/grains producing provinces… just another day at the office , whilst a similar day occasioned Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi who was ousted for daring to establish a Libyan gold backed currency that he promoted to be used Africa wide.. his reward sodomised to death with a knife for which Sec State HRC cackled…

Importantly, the U.S is a nation that between the years 1776 through 2014 had enjoyed only 16 years without its armed forces being in conflict, whether genociding its indigenous Indian populace or as has become its want, been waging war around the globe… truly symptomatic of a serious psychosis afflicting the so called elites in that nation… just saying

Exactly.

Throughout their colonial history Europeans (esp. Brits and French) used the same "Divide and Conquer" strategy to have other nations fight each other for the benefit of the Imperialist Oligarchy.

And the best way to analyze how the U.S. operates is to remember how it was created in the first place.

As the European powers were realizing that direct conflict with each other was becoming counterproductive, they conspired to create a pirate colony of which they would all benefit. There were some bitter fights over the arrangement, but it is still part of the European style of Empire.

That's why the U.S. is more like a Corporation than a Country.. That's why the orange clown presents himself as a CEO, bragging about "good deals".

Exactly, Washington D.C is still a Corporation… just like its counterpart, the “City” in London… check the records, and thank you for mentioning France, I knew I’d missed an obvious…. best to you..
