I happen to have the same general medical condition as Graham. It is vascular stenosis and a abdominal aortic aneurysm. I have been advised that the progression of an emergency for me (if I am lucky) is a tearing of the innermost wall of the blood vessel at the point of the aneurysm causing an overall feeling of not being well. As the second layer starts to tear, the symptoms will progress to pain in the chest, back and of course, the abdomen. The final stage is when the outer layer is finally breached and I bleed out in minutes. The sequence can happen almost immediately or over time.
My aneurysm is still small so I have to take comfort in perhaps having more time to get to an emergency ward. However, my overall condition is such that I would probably not survive the heroic measures they take to deal with the problem anyway. That's how life goes.
No. It's not so simple. For one thing, a small aneurysm is low risk. Hardening of the arteries makes such a procedure risky in itself. The building in question had indeed been an Iranian government or IRGC office 5 years prior to the attack, but the offices were abandoned and given over to the school while the government/military function moved elsewhere. Unfortunately the IRGC didnt think to send notice to the pentagon so they could update their target list.

The Gulf region state owned fleets are directly owned by state created legal entities. They are officered by nationals of the state in question. But the crews are multi national just like almost every other fleet. Those crews are covered by legally enforced contracts and treaty bound I.M.O regulations regarding mariners. This is a coherent argument. The 5th fleet base in Bahrain is basically abandoned scrap at this point. But the airbases are immune to hormuz logistically. And then for example Udeid base in qatar is 100% paid for by qatar and is technically a qatari base. There was a lot to work out over time.
Logistics are much easier with shipping, ships transport a lot more cargo. The 5th fleet head quarters well is a complicated situation. As though Iran strikes the facility its now a game, whereby Iran keeps it strikeable enough to use as a target. Then there are assets trapped in the gulf that the Iranians do not hit. That makes a lot of sense (that Graham died due to Russian bombing). No proof, but it fits. The health issues angle doesn't fit for me - Graham seemed genuinely healthy in all of his recent appearances. He doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, eats healthy, exercises, has great healthcare, etc.

He supposedly died two hours or so after Trump claimed to talk to him Saturday night, around 7:00 pm EST. It's a nine hour train ride from Kiev to Rzeszów, Poland - the closest terminus with an airport in Poland. It's another nine hours flight from Poland to the east coast (D.C. or South Carolina).
So Graham went to Kiev, stepped off onto the train platform, and immediately turned around to head back home? He posted videos of himself visiting a drone factory, so he spent some time in Ukraine.
Of course I don't have his travel itinerary. But foreign codels (details of foreign trips) for congresspeople and senior government officials are always announced immediately after they arrive home safely. If it's a private trip like the sponsored visits to Israel, law requires detailed reporting of the trip within thirty days including itineraries.
So when Graham tells a reporter after the NATO trip in Ankara that he's traveling to Kiev to meet Zelensky, you can look at the past record of his dozens of trips to Kiev along with dozens of other people doing the same and get a pretty good idea of how he's getting there and back.

Passenger trains pulled by diesel locomotive are the only way to get from Europe to Kiev and back, the schedules for them are reported on Ukrainian Railways website (including in English), and other VIPs taking that train have been extensively reported in the past few years. Graham has posted pictures of himself on passenger jets flying coach often on his X account over the years.

The article provides no indication that a significant setback has occurred for the US Air Force. Maybe the US uses fleet-based fighters? But at least the air tankers must land on a solid runway! If there are land-based aircraft participating in strikes on Iran, then the number of airfields should be very limited, as some Gulf States forbid the US to use their bases. On the other hand, it seems that Isreal is not used for US strikes. This could result in Jordan being the only option for air tankers and possibly fighter jets. There are more questions than answers! The pictures from the US forces show tanker operations with ground-based fighters—maybe propaganda?

I happen to have the same general medical condition as Graham. It is vascular stenosis and a abdominal aortic aneurysm. I have been advised that the progression of an emergency for me (if I am lucky) is a tearing of the innermost wall of the blood vessel at the point of the aneurysm causing an overall feeling of not being well. As the second layer starts to tear, the symptoms will progress to pain in the chest, back and of course, the abdomen. The final stage is when the outer layer is finally breached and I bleed out in minutes. The sequence can happen almost immediately or over time.
My aneurysm is still small so I have to take comfort in perhaps having more time to get to an emergency ward. However, my overall condition is such that I would probably not survive the heroic measures they take to deal with the problem anyway. That's how life goes.

No. It's not so simple. For one thing, a small aneurysm is low risk. Hardening of the arteries makes such a procedure risky in itself. Also in my case there are unrelated complications from long ago surgery in adjacent areas. So I agree with them. ...if it ain't broke (it's still small) don't fix it.

I have to agree with you on this one. What it does show is the unreliability of whatever process any military uses for compiling target lists. The building in question had indeed been an Iranian government or IRGC office 5 years prior to the attack, but the offices were abandoned and given over to the school while the government/military function moved elsewhere. Unfortunately the IRGC didnt think to send notice to the pentagon so they could update their target list.

Stop ranting and look at ship movements. The only ships moving are on the Iranian side of the strait. See, the thing is it doesn't matter what you want, or Trump wants. It is what the owner of the ship wants as well as if the crew agrees to whatever the company wants.
There was a small flotilla of ships moving through the Omani side under strict American protection. Multiple drones/missiles were launched at the flotilla. Despite the American coverage at least one attack got through and seriously damaged one of the ships. The rest of the fleet immediately turned back. The effectiveness of American security guarantees was duly noted by the thousand ships or so still blockaded in the Gulf region.

The Gulf region state owned fleets are directly owned by state created legal entities. They are officered by nationals of the state in question. But the crews are multi national just like almost every other fleet. Those crews are covered by legally enforced contracts and treaty bound I.M.O regulations regarding mariners. It is conceivable that a big enough bonus might convince a crew to risk it. But not for several uneventful days after a successful attack.
Yes the rank and file tend to be south Asian mostly, but their employment contracts are directly with the companies in question and are therefore governed by labor laws in those countries. If you know much about the gulf you'd know that They hardly have much say in the matter.

This is a coherent argument. The 5th fleet base in Bahrain is basically abandoned scrap at this point. But the airbases are immune to hormuz logistically. And then for example Udeid base in qatar is 100% paid for by qatar and is technically a qatari base. There was a lot to work out over time.
Logistics are much easier with shipping, ships transport a lot more cargo. The 5th fleet head quarters well is a complicated situation. As though Iran strikes the facility its now a game, whereby Iran keeps it strikeable enough to use as a target. Then there are assets trapped in the gulf that the Iranians do not hit. So there is a game being played that will not be obvious. So we can only observe assess draw conclusions and hope for the best. The new Supreme leader not appearing for his father's funeral is purely a security matter. There is factionalism everywhere basically everyone have different perspectives motivations and seek different outcomes or at minimum a different path to the same outcome. Graham probably died in Ukraine. He arrived by train in Kiev at around 11:00 am local time on Friday, July 10th. He supposedly died two hours or so after Trump claimed to talk to him Saturday night, around 7:00 pm EST. It's a nine hour train ride from Kiev to Rzeszów, Poland - the closest terminus with an airport in Poland. It's another nine hours flight from Poland to the east coast (D.C. or South Carolina).
So Graham went to Kiev, stepped off onto the train platform, and immediately turned around to head back home? He posted videos of himself visiting a drone factory, so he spent some time in Ukraine.
Of course I don't have his travel itinerary. But foreign codels (details of foreign trips) for congresspeople and senior government officials are always announced immediately after they arrive home safely. If it's a private trip like the sponsored visits to Israel, law requires detailed reporting of the trip within thirty days including itineraries.
So when Graham tells a reporter after the NATO trip in Ankara that he's traveling to Kiev to meet Zelensky, you can look at the past record of his dozens of trips to Kiev along with dozens of other people doing the same and get a pretty good idea of how he's getting there and back.
Common sense is at play too. Airports are closed in Ukraine and there are no commercial flights. Passenger trains pulled by diesel locomotive are the only way to get from Europe to Kiev and back, the schedules for them are reported on Ukrainian Railways website (including in English), and other VIPs taking that train have been extensively reported in the past few years. Graham has posted pictures of himself on passenger jets flying coach often on his X account over the years.
Did he do something way unexpected for travel this time? Maybe. Is it most likely the way everyone always travels, and Graham always travels? Definitely.

I think helicopters are at risk of being shot down, the same as airplanes. I'm not sure exactly what that risk is - stay behind Russian partisans with manpads, cross-border attacks from Belorussian territory? Kiev closed its airport maybe two years ago, and all diplomatic visits have been by train. Ukrzaliznytsia (the Ukrainian national railway) publishes the schedules: there's one train a day coming and going from Poland. Russia has attacked diesel locomotives all over Ukraine but leaves the passenger trains from Poland with published schedules alone. There's a "presidential" wagon that they add to the Poland-Kiev train for VIPs, its interior is pretty distinctive in appearance and you see it whenever Mark Rutte, Macron, etc. are photographed on the train (which is many of the photos of them).

The flight schedules from the Polish cities to the east coast are public as well; Graham has repeatedly taken pictures of himself on planes and posted it on X (like his recent trip to Disney World), so while it's possible he returned to D.C. in a military flight, it's unlikely as he normally travels coach.
I don't think a US Senator travelling through a war zone is going to make public accurate information about his travel plans. Why would he? Security would require him to use different modes of transport and keep his plans secret.
Also, his social media posts would be carefully curated by political operatives, their purpose isn't to inform the public but to create a pleasing public image.

I don't know about the details of this trip exactly, but in general, when foreign leaders and VIPs travel to Kiev, the details of it are passed onto Russian authorities and acknowledged publicly by the Russian Foreign Ministry on their X and VKontakte accounts in advance. The reason is to be sure the message is passed, and to make sure the Russians don't target that particular train. There is probably a behind-the-scenes agreement that Russia will not attack such trains.
There is no air service in Ukraine. Driving is not safe over such a long distance. There is banditry in rural areas in Ukraine. Fuel supplies are not reliable. There is no reliable food service on the trip. Riding in an SUV that long a distance (at least ten hours from Kiev to the Polish border) is uncomfortable. If there are mechanical issues with the vehicles, there's no tow service and no reliable vehicle service.

Was it significant? Why is Iran not making a massive move against airports? Not a hangar there and a runway here. The article provides no indication that a significant setback has occurred for the US Air Force. Maybe the US uses fleet-based fighters? But at least the air tankers must land on a solid runway! If there are land-based aircraft participating in strikes on Iran, then the number of airfields should be very limited, as some Gulf States forbid the US to use their bases. On the other hand, it seems that Isreal is not used for US strikes. This could result in Jordan being the only option for air tankers and possibly fighter jets. There are more questions than answers! The pictures from the US forces show tanker operations with ground-based fighters—maybe propaganda?

The book “Barbarians Inside the Gates: The Rattler’s Revenge” is by a man named Donn de Grand Pre, who was a U.S. Army soldier and officer who served in WWII and also the Korean War, in which he was seriously wounded. Later on Grand Pre worked in the Pentagon. The “Rattler’s Revenge” book is one of three in a series and all of the books are about how the United States has been subverted from within by the same group that is seeking to create a one world government. Over his career, Grand Pre grew increasingly cynical about the government and recognized that American war-making was a criminal enterprise. His awakening seems to be similar to Major General Smedley Butler’s, who wrote War is a Racket.
The Rattler’s Revenge contains a chapter on the Nuremberg Trials and as Grand Pre describes them, they were Soviet-style show trials: the prosecution was dominated by jews who were motivated by revenge (aren’t they always motivated by revenge?) and the charges of guilt were pre-determined. Furthermore, many of the crimes that the Germans were charged with were declared to be criminal after the fact (ex post facto), and the Allies had done the same and worse. The trial was not about justice but about “victor’s justice”. Several American lawyers and politicians admitted that the trials were fraudulent and “a disgrace to the United States”:
In Congress, US Representative Lawrence H. Smith of Wisconsin declared: “The Nuremberg trials are so repugnant to the Anglo-Saxon principles of justice that we must forever be ashamed of that page in our history … The Nuremberg farce represents a revenge policy at its worst.”
Another Congressman, John Rankin of Mississippi, stated: “As a representative of the American people I desire to say that what is taking place in Nuremberg, Germany, is a disgrace to the United States… A racial minority, two and a half years after the war closed, are in Nuremberg not only hanging German soldiers but trying German businessmen in the name of the United States.”
Grand Pre notes that certain aspects of the trials were tied into jewish religious eschatology. He explains that the date set for the hanging of the Germans who received death sentences fell on the jewish holiday of Purim-October 16, 1946. Interestingly, the infamous “Highway of Death” massacre of retreating Iraqi soldiers by Allied forces during “Operation Desert Storm” also occurred on Purim, as did the start of the second Gulf War. But remember: jews don’t control anything. They are only and forever victims.
